When HoverSpeed introduced the new seacat service from Dover, they stopped the use of their three SRN4 Mk IIs to cut costs. Unfortunately, while doing a routine mantenence on the Dover pad, a fire broke out along the port bow of this craft, the Prince Of Wales, destroying most of it beyond repair. She was then broken up. Specially arranged by HoverSpeed, the Princess Margaret going to Boulogne crossed paths with the Princess Anne going to Dover, near the Cap Gris Nez (nr. Calais, France). This also happened recently before the craft were taken out of service.
The 10:00am Princess Margaret (nearer) Piloted by Capt. John Lloyd on the first of his three flights that day to Boulogne departed at 10:08am for the photo at about 10:30am meeting up with Capt. Mike Brimson presumably on his second of three flights (that is 7am, 9am, 11am) from Calais. (Photos sent by John Lloyd) |
