Boulogne Hoverport (1979 - 1993) (Google Maps)

Boulogne hoverport really was a futuristic building at the time, with its filleted-edge concrete features looking like something straight out of Thunderbirds. The hoverport buildings still stand, deserted and delrelict, today. It is not known what the plans are for them. The tower on site is used occupied in a business capacity, though for what purpose I do not know.

Boulogne Hoverport: Then and Now

These images kindly sent by Nicolas Levy, are of Boulogne Hoverport both in its hey day back in the 1960's, 70's and 80's, and how it was in 2005 before it was finally demolished to make way for new developments.

The Past 2005 Description

The Railway Station

Boulogne Hoverport's designated railway station in 1969.

Front of the Terminal

The front of the terminal buildings, from the slipway.

Oblique

Another view of the terminal buildings, from the end of the arrivals/departures lounge.

From the Car Park

From the Hills

Looking down at the site as it once was.

Alive

Craft coming and going, versus the silent state of 2005.

Arrivals
